"One Statement" (Howard)This is a featured page

"One": In the sense of a "person", not to be followed by his or her. "One" should also be utilized as a replacement for either you/your/yours in essays. Replacing any of these three "you" statements with "one" will allow for a wider audience and create a sense that the reader is not alone in reading the specified written text.

For Example:

"To successfully gain admittance to Eastern, you must turn in a completed application alongside high school transcripts and ACT/SAT test scores."
Replace "you" with "one":
"To successfully gain admittance to Eastern, one must turn in a completed application alongside high school transcripts and ACT/SAT test scores."

The Exception:
When the writer is reaching out to a specified person (i.e. an interview with a corporate boss) or a specified group of people (i.e. a political speech).
