Both “effect” and ”affect” can be used as a noun and verb.
EFFECT
Primarily used as a noun.
“Effect” is used as noun when talking about a result, or something that is brought about.
Example: The effects of pollution have damaged the ozone.
Use effect as a verb when talking about producing a result; causing something to occur.
Example: The new stadium effected a positive increase in revenue.
AFFECT
Affect is almost always used as a verb.
“Affect” as a verb: To have an influence on; to impress or to move; to produce a change in something or someone.
Example: The consumption of alcohol affects your judgment.
Use affect as a noun when talking about an emotional state.
