Looking up the meaning of the word- Candice StephensThis is a featured page

Stylistic Rule: Make sure that before you use any type of word that you are not familiar with or have doubts about, that you check the words meaning in the dictionary for either the correct spelling, pronunciation or the correct word class to use it as.

It is very important that you look up the meaning of a word and the correct content to use the word when writing a
paper.

For example:
Use the correct spelling. a lot is two words, it is often thought of as one word, alot.

Use the word in the correct word class. "like" is a preposition, not a conjuction. "My son acts like his dad." That is in correct. "My son act's as his father did when he was his age." That is the correct usage.

Use the right pronounciatation for words. Some pronounce "ask" as "aks". The incorrect prounounciation can aid in the incorrect spelling.

I must say that your "ask"/"aks" issue shouldn't belong here. Technically "aks" is a correct pronunciation due to historical linguistics and linguistic factors.

Hi Candice--
First, it's a little long-- I think 153 words instead of 150 words. Second, that second paragraph is probably something that should be in the essay. It isn't really in the style of a rule, if that makes sense. And third, I think it'd be good for you to have an example here.
