Sentence Stress (Collum)This is a featured page

When writing a sentence, the main and most important idea should be at the end of the sentence.
-This allows the idea to be easier to focus on and has a better chance to be remembered by the reader. In other words, it puts more emphasis on that part of the sentence.

For example:

The sentence- "By moving the most important point to the end of the sentence, we add more emphasis to that point."
Applying the rule to the sentence- "To emphasize a point in a sentence, move that point to the end of the sentence."

The sentence- "The man was robbed, according to the police."
Applying the rule to the sentence- "According to the police, the man was robbed."

*Of course these are simplified sentences. This rule works best with compound and longer sentences.
